RealPlayer is an application that can play back audio and video files, with its native format being RealMedia (RealAudio and RealVideo). Features include a media browser, playlist editor, CD burning, CD ripping, and a music store. There is a non-free Pro version available, which also includes extra features such as an audio converter and audio recording.

There are some criticisms about RealPlayer, including complaints that the software automatically starts when you boot Windows and this can't be disabled, the pop-up adverts that appear when you start and quit the application, and not being able to burn CDs to a file type other than the native RealAudio format unless you pay for RealPlayer Pro.
